This Is Just Crazy!” — Davido Reacts To $50k Debt Claim

The allegation surfaced in a viral social media post attributed to Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, CEO of the event planning company reportedly responsible for organising Davido and Chioma’s wedding. The post accused the singer of failing to settle outstanding payments and included an alleged chat in which legal action was threatened.

However, Bucknor-Obruthe has since dismissed the claim, describing the circulating post and screenshots as false and misleading. In an Instagram story, she clarified that neither the statement nor the alleged messages originated from her or her company.

Reacting to the controversy on his (formerly Twitter) page, Davido expressed disbelief, describing the allegation as absurd. “This is just crazy at this point,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has made fresh allegations against leading Afrobeats stars, including Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Olamide. In a video shared online, Portable accused the artistes of exaggerating the value of their jewellery and placing undue pressure on younger musicians.

The Zazu crooner claimed that the dominance of the four superstars over the past decade has limited opportunities for emerging talents in the industry. He further urged them to stop flaunting wealth in ways that discourage upcoming artistes, warning that he would continue to call them out if the trend persists.
