The governor and his wife were guests at a dinner and awards ceremony marking Oyo State’s 50th anniversary, held on Wednesday, February 4.

During the programme, the event host invited the governor’s wife to give her husband a peck on the cheek in front of the audience. As she leaned in to do so, Makinde was seen turning his face away, creating an awkward moment that quickly drew attention.

Reacting online, a user identified as coupletherapies wrote, “His mind was not there. He was busy with his phone and didn’t know what was going on. This kind of embarrassment when all eyes were on them.”

Another user, Thegreat, commented, “At least he should have given her a peck or something. I like the fact that she also gave him a cold shoulder afterwards.”

Ritadiamonds added, “She felt really bad and embarrassed. I feel her pain. I don’t think everything is okay at home.”

Hyfendy also shared, “I don’t know why some men refuse to show public affection to their wives. This is honestly sad.”

African prints wrote, “Fire for fire. There will be serious quarrel at home. I feel bad for her. If she had known, she wouldn’t have gone.”

Similarly, Tee_fabrics noted, “She was holding back tears. It is well.”
