In a statement on Friday, Melaye criticized the Senate’s decision, calling it a serious blow to the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process. He described the move as an open endorsement of election manipulation and a sign of a sinister plan to influence the 2027 vote.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain added that rejecting electronic transmission opens the door to widespread electoral fraud, and represents a major step backward for democracy in Nigeria.
