He made the statement while participating in a protest against the Senate’s rejection of real-time electronic transmission of election results.
Dalung emphasized that the demonstration is only the beginning and vowed that Nigerians will continue to fight for transparent elections.
The ex-minister said he joined the protest to support young Nigerians who came out to send a strong message to the National Assembly. He stressed that any amendment process in the National Assembly must reflect the will of the people.
“This protest is about defending the Nigerian vote and ensuring real-time transmission of election results,” Dalung said.
“Free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria are no longer negotiable. The National Assembly must deliver real-time results that truly reflect the choice of Nigerians, not political manipulation.
“The Senate must act and do the needful to enable real-time transmission from polling units. This is just the beginning. We will monitor the process closely to ensure we are not outsmarted, as happened with Mahmoud during the 2023 elections.”
