The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, has strongly condemned the recent foiled coup attempt against the administration of President Bola Tinubu, describing it as disgraceful, disturbing and entirely unacceptable.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reports indicate that more than 40 military officers and civilians have been arrested in connection with the alleged plot said to have been planned for October last year. Families of those detained have appealed for leniency and a fair hearing.

Speaking on Wednesday at a strategic meeting with commanders at the Nigerian Air Force headquarters in Abuja, Aneke emphasised that the Armed Forces’ constitutional duty is to support and protect civil authority.

He warned that any member of the Armed Forces of Nigeria found culpable of attempting to undermine or overthrow the country’s democratic government would be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.

“I unequivocally condemn the recent revelations that certain individuals plotted to subvert democracy and violently seize power,” he said.

“Such actions are disgraceful, alarming and completely unacceptable. Those responsible will face the full weight of the law. The Nigerian Air Force remains firmly committed to the Constitution and the democratically elected government in place.

“Commanders are therefore reminded of their duty to preserve unity and discipline within the ranks, and to prevent any form of misconduct or unlawful activity.”
