Breaking: Governors Yusuf And Okpebholo Announce Compensation For Families Of 16 Killed Hunters

Abba Yusuf and his Edo State counterpart, Monday Okpebholo, have finalised arrangements to compensate the families of 16 hunters who were killed in Uromi, Edo State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This was disclosed on Friday by the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, during the presentation of Governor Yusuf’s cash and food donations to the victims’ families in Bunkure Local Government Area.

Waiya explained that a dedicated account named “Uromi-16” has been set up to facilitate the payment of compensation to the affected families.

He added that all arrangements for the disbursement had been completed, noting that earlier delays were caused by the former chairman of the Uromi Committee, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam, who allegedly failed to implement the required processes.

According to him, each of the 16 deceased victims will receive ₦300,000, while 12 injured persons are to receive ₦200,000 each, in addition to food assistance provided by the state government.

He stated that the Edo State Government has concluded plans to begin payment of compensation to the families of the slain hunters.

Waiya also recalled that Governor Yusuf had directed that support be provided earlier, but the directive was not executed by the committee leadership at the time.

Reacting to the development, the District Head of Bunkure, Aminu Isha Umar, expressed appreciation for the government’s intervention, saying he is confident that Governor Yusuf will ensure the families receive justice and compensation.

He also praised the governor for his continued support to the people of Kano State, particularly those in Bunkure Local Government Area.
