The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the group’s spokesperson, Dr Habibu Sale Mohammed.

In the statement, the movement expressed confidence in the independence and integrity of the apex court, while stressing the importance of a timely resolution due to the urgency of the matter.

“The Kwankwasiyya Movement wishes to address members of the African Democratic Congress, our supporters, and all Nigerians regarding the ongoing proceedings before the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

“While we remain confident in the integrity, independence and sense of responsibility of the Supreme Court, we consider it necessary to respectfully highlight the urgency surrounding this matter,” the statement said.

The group noted that the unresolved legal dispute has created uncertainty for the party, especially within the context of strict electoral timelines.

“As it stands, the current situation has placed our party in a race against time,” it added.

“The absence of a clear and final determination inevitably limits the ability of the party to fully organise, mobilise and participate effectively within the democratic space.”

Kwankwasiyya urged the court to weigh not only the legal issues involved but also the time-sensitive nature of political participation and stability.

“It is our hope that the Supreme Court will consider not only the legal merits of the case but also the urgency of the issues involved,” Mohammed stated.

The movement further said the apex court has consistently shown that justice must be both fair and timely, particularly in matters affecting democracy.

“The Court has demonstrated that justice, to be truly meaningful, must not only be fair but also timely, especially in matters with direct implications for democratic participation and national stability,” it added.

Kwankwasiyya expressed optimism that the court would deliver a decision that protects both Nigeria’s democracy and the integrity of the judiciary.

“We are confident that the Supreme Court, in exercising its constitutional mandate, will act in a manner that preserves both the integrity of the judiciary and the vitality of Nigeria’s multiparty democracy,” it said.

The group also called on its members and supporters to remain calm, united, and law-abiding while awaiting the court’s verdict, expressing confidence that justice would ultimately prevail in a timely and fair manner.
