Senator Gbenga Daniel has picked up his nomination and expression of interest forms to seek re-election to the Senate, despite the All Progressives Congress adopting Governor Dapo Abiodun as its consensus candidate for the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The move comes after a recent APC caucus meeting in Ijebu-Ode where party leaders endorsed Abiodun as the preferred consensus candidate ahead of the polls. Reports had also claimed Daniel, a former two-term governor of Ogun State, was denied access to the meeting venue.
Defying the outcome of the gathering, Daniel proceeded on Tuesday to obtain his nomination forms, signaling his determination to retain his Ogun East Senate seat.
Sharing the development on his handle alongside photos of the forms, Daniel said he remains committed to offering effective and responsive representation for the people of Ogun East under the APC platform in the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Olufemi Nuberu, dismissed suggestions of a crisis within the party, insisting the party remains united despite speculations about factional interests and rival camps.
Reacting to claims that Daniel was shut out of the caucus meeting, Nuberu described the reports as exaggerated and lacking credible proof, noting that no formal complaint was submitted to the party over the alleged exclusion.
He added that party decisions are guided by verified facts, not speculation or viral narratives, particularly at a time when digital content can easily be manipulated.
