Omokri, who has consistently criticised the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, posted the clip on his account on Sunday.
In the video, Obi is seen standing near a seating area alongside some associates and luggage when Omokri approaches him and calls out, “Mr Obi!” The two politicians then exchange handshakes and a few words.
Dressed in a green traditional outfit with a matching cap, Omokri briefly placed his hand on Obi’s arm during the interaction before the former Anambra governor proceeded toward the departure area with his luggage.
Sharing the video online, Omokri captioned it: “Peter Obi And I Exchanging Warm Greetings Today At Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport In Anticipation of President Tinubu’s Reelection Next Year!”
The encounter happened just days after Omokri reacted to Obi’s reported decision to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as part of a repeated pattern in Obi’s political career.
The video has since generated reactions on social media, with many users pointing out the difference between Omokri’s frequent online criticism of Obi and the friendly manner in which both men interacted in person.
Some critics also accused Omokri of seeking attention, noting that the moment appeared to have been deliberately recorded by a cameraman accompanying him.
