Several figures from the entertainment industry have already declared interest in elective positions, ranging from legislative seats to executive offices across different parts of the country.
While new entrants continue to emerge, some entertainers such as actor and Lagos lawmaker Desmond Elliot and Nollywood veteran Kenneth Okonkwo have maintained active political careers for years.
Desmond Elliot currently represents Surulere Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, while Kenneth Okonkwo has previously participated in presidential campaign activities and national partisan politics.
Below are some entertainers who have publicly shown interest in contesting political offices ahead of the 2027 elections:
1. Foluke Daramola-Salako
Veteran Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola-Salako recently obtained nomination and expression of interest forms under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
She had earlier declared her intention to represent Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency I and stated that improving workers’ welfare would be among her priorities if elected.
In a Facebook post, the actress encouraged residents of Oshodi-Isolo to pursue their ambitions with determination, while expressing optimism about building a better constituency together.
2. Emeka Ike
Veteran actor Emeka Ike recently picked nomination forms under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as he prepares to contest for the Abuja Municipal Area Council/Bwari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
This marks another political attempt for the actor, who previously contested for the Ideato South Federal Constituency seat in Imo State in 2018 under the Young Progressive Party but was unsuccessful.
3. Pascal Okechukwu (Chief Priest)
Celebrity businessman and nightlife promoter Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Chief Priest, has also signalled his political ambition ahead of the elections.
The socialite recently aligned with the APC and reportedly secured nomination forms to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State.
His move into politics has sparked conversations among supporters and observers about his transition from entertainment and hospitality into public service.
4. Zubby Michael
Popular Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The actor announced his ambition after registering with the party in Anambra State, revealing that he intends to contest for the Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency seat.
His declaration has generated reactions among fans and political commentators over the growing participation of entertainers in governance.
5. Rotimi Makinde
Actor and former lawmaker Rotimi Makinde is reportedly planning a return to the National Assembly.
Makinde previously represented Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and has remained active in political discussions within Osun State.
Reports suggest he believes his legislative experience gives him a strong advantage for another stint in office.
6. Damilola Marshal
Damilola Marshal, daughter of Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, has also expressed interest in contesting political office.
The lawyer, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism, is reportedly preparing to seek a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Her campaign is expected to focus on youth empowerment, inclusion, and reforms targeted at young Nigerians.
7. Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana)
Businessman Ikenna Iyiegbu, widely known as Ike Cubana and younger brother of celebrity entrepreneur Obi Cubana, has also intensified his political activities ahead of 2027.
He reportedly joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and is seeking to represent Idemili North/South Federal Constituency in Anambra State.
His entry into politics has further fueled discussions about the growing influence of celebrities in the South-East political landscape.
