Political Drama Erupts As Police Foil Alleged Plan To Chaos Ekiti APC Primary

The Nigeria Police Force in Ekiti State has arrested seven suspected political thugs allegedly brought into the state to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael, disclosed this during a press briefing on Friday.

According to him, the suspects were apprehended around 9 p.m. on Thursday at Onikoyi Hotel in Ikun-Ekiti following intelligence reports about their arrival in the state.

Police authorities described the suspects as armed hoodlums allegedly in possession of dangerous weapons.

The individuals arrested were identified as Adekunle Stephen, Boluwaji Ishola, Adepoju Adebayo, Oluwatobi Adeoluwa, Akintunde Emmanuel, Ibitola Babatope, and Adewale Makanjuola.

The command also revealed that several other members of the group escaped using three vehicles.

Items reportedly recovered from the suspects included a Beretta pistol, two pump-action rifles, nine rounds of 9mm live ammunition, four live cartridges, substances suspected to be charms, two Apple laptops, and a Honda Accord vehicle.

Falade stated that preliminary investigations suggested the suspects were allegedly recruited by a serving member of the House of Representatives.

He added that the suspects confessed to being brought into Ekiti to cause unrest during the APC primary election initially scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026.

The police commissioner confirmed that the suspects would face prosecution after the conclusion of investigations, while efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the group and their alleged sponsor.

Meanwhile, the APC primary election, originally fixed for Friday, was later shifted to Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The police assured residents that adequate security measures would remain in place to maintain peace and prevent violence before, during, and after the exercise.
