No More Godfathers — APM Sends Strong Message Before 2027 Polls

Dantalle made the remarks on Saturday during an interview on Arise Television, where he discussed the party’s internal structure and ongoing alliance discussions.

According to him, although financial backing is important for political parties, the APM would not sacrifice its values by surrendering decision-making powers to influential individuals.

He explained that the party is committed to building an inclusive political structure where members enjoy equal participation and opportunities.

“Every voice in the party is important. Inasmuch as we need financial resources to drive the activities of the party, we would not hoodwink ourselves with any godfather to determine what happens in our party,” he said.

Dantalle added that the party leadership remains focused on strengthening internal democracy instead of encouraging personality-based politics.

“APM is the kind of egalitarian political party we want to build,” he stated.

Speaking further, the party chairman said the move to explore political alliances ahead of the elections became necessary because of the limited time remaining before the polls.

He noted that working with like-minded political groups could improve the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

Although he did not reveal the identities of parties involved in the talks, Dantalle stressed that any alliance entered into would align with the APM’s principles and long-term objectives.

He also described the APM as one of the few political parties in Nigeria operating without internal conflict or divisions.

According to him, the peaceful atmosphere within the party is the result of strict compliance with the party constitution and established regulations.

“The APM is one party that I would say is clean, devoid of any form of rancour. And how did we achieve that feat? We try as much as possible to work within the laws,” he said.
