The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Monday said he finds the ongoing clashes among opposition parties amusing, describing their internal disputes as self-created problems.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Yilwatda made the remarks during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television.

He stated that the ruling APC was not engaged in any battle with opposition parties, insisting instead that the conflict was mainly between the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, “For the past three weeks, APC has not been in a fight with either ADC or NDC. What we are seeing is ADC versus NDC and NDC versus ADC.

“I’ve watched with amusement as both parties exchange insults and political attacks. I saw the videos and couldn’t help but laugh. The opposition appears to be destroying itself rather than posing any challenge to APC.”

Reacting to claims that he might be fueling the crisis within the opposition, Yilwatda denied direct involvement but admitted that weakening political rivals is part of political strategy.

“No, I’m not behind it, though I wouldn’t mind if I could influence it because that’s part of politics. If a group stands against you as opposition, naturally your role is to outmaneuver them,” he said.

The APC chairman further argued that the ruling party possesses stronger internal conflict-resolution structures than its rivals. He explained that the party operates committees at both national and state levels to address disputes arising from congresses and other political activities.

Speaking on the APC membership database and the votes secured by President Bola Tinubu during the party’s presidential primary, Yilwatda disclosed that the APC relies on data from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for its registration process.

He explained that APC members’ names and personal details are verified using NIMC records — the same data system used for banking services, driver’s licences, and international passports.

“We are the only political party that sources its primary registration data from NIMC. That is why many people see APC as one of the most stable and politically viable parties in the country. We are a data-driven political party,” he added.
