The controversy followed reports that the lawmaker, who reportedly lost the party’s senatorial primary to former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa, had complained about being denied an alleged automatic ticket promised by the party.
However, in a statement issued during a press conference on Tuesday, the Ned Nwoko Media Team insisted that the senator never granted any interview or released any statement accusing the APC of betrayal.
The team alleged that the reports were fabricated and linked them to the media camp of Okowa.
“Our attention has been drawn to a false, misleading and malicious publication credited to the Okowa media team, alleging that Senator Ned Nwoko lamented over an alleged betrayal by the APC and the loss of the Delta North senatorial ticket,” the statement read.
The media team stressed that the senator neither authorised nor made any public comments suggesting he had been betrayed by the ruling party. According to them, the publication was deliberately designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension within the APC in Delta State.
They further described Nwoko as a loyal and committed member of the APC who has continued to work closely with party leaders at both state and national levels to strengthen the party’s structure in Delta North and beyond.
The statement also dismissed claims of any “betrayal” or “power-sharing agreement,” insisting that such narratives were false and aimed at causing division within the party.
According to the team, Senator Nwoko believes strongly in due process, party supremacy and internal democracy, adding that he does not resort to public confrontations or blackmail to settle political disagreements.
The public was urged to disregard the report entirely, which the team described as political propaganda intended to create discord ahead of the 2027 elections.
They added that the senator remains focused on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Delta North while supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The statement also noted that Nwoko remains willing to collaborate with all members of the APC to build a stronger party in Delta State.
The media team further advised journalists and members of the public to confirm information through the senator’s official communication channels before publication.
It added that legal action was being considered against those behind what it described as a defamatory publication.
