This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa.
According to the ministry, the returnees will be transported on an Air Peace flight scheduled to depart O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Wednesday night.
The aircraft is expected to land in Lagos at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The repatriation exercise follows renewed reports of attacks targeting foreign nationals in parts of South Africa, which have raised fresh concerns among affected communities.
In response, Nigerian authorities facilitated the voluntary evacuation of citizens who expressed willingness to return home.
The Federal Government had earlier assured Nigerians in South Africa of its commitment to their safety and welfare, while also engaging relevant South African authorities to address the situation and ensure the protection of Nigerian nationals.
