The match, held at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, saw Ronaldo feature as Portugal secured a hard-fought win against a determined Nigerian side.
Pedro Neto gave the hosts the lead in the 23rd minute, but Nigeria responded before halftime through Akor Adams, who calmly converted a chance created by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Portugal regained control after the break, with Francisco Conceição scoring the decisive goal to secure victory for Roberto Martínez’s team.
After the match, Ronaldo expressed satisfaction with his team’s readiness ahead of the global tournament. Posting on Instagram alongside an image from the game, he wrote: “The preparation is done. Eyes on the World Cup.”
Portugal are set to compete in Group K at the 2026 World Cup, where they will face DR Congo, Colombia, and Uzbekistan.
Despite the defeat, Nigeria delivered a spirited performance and troubled the European side at various stages of the encounter.
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye stood out with several key saves that kept Nigeria in contention, while defenders Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey impressed with composed displays. Midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi also showed energy and discipline in the middle of the park.
Akor Adams further enhanced his reputation with a well-taken equaliser and remained a constant threat before being substituted late on.
Alex Iwobi marked his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles but had a quiet outing, while Moses Simon struggled to make a major impact before being replaced in the second half.
Substitutes Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika added stability in midfield, but Nigeria were ultimately unable to find another equaliser as Portugal held on for the win.
