As of the time of this report, data on the portal indicated that results from 2,362 out of 2,445 polling units where the election was held had been successfully uploaded.

By 11:03 p.m., the figure had risen to 96.61 percent of total results uploaded to the IReV platform.

Earlier, INEC announced on its official X page that voting had concluded in most polling units across Ekiti State following the official close of polls at 2:30 p.m.

The commission stated that all 2,445 polling units opened for the election, although some experienced minor delays.

“Voting has officially ended in most polling units across Ekiti State following the close of polls at 2:30 p.m,” INEC said.

“Earlier in the day, all 2,445 polling units were successfully opened for the governorship election. 2,257 polling units (92.31%) opened on schedule before 8:30 a.m., while 188 polling units (7.69%) experienced slight delays but commenced voting before 10:30 a.m. The process remained peaceful and orderly.”

According to INEC, 2,257 polling units opened on time, while the remaining 188 began voting later in the morning after initial delays.

Despite the commission’s assurance of a peaceful exercise, some areas reported delays in voter accreditation.

These challenges were linked to glitches with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), particularly during biometric verification, which affected some voters, especially elderly citizens.

The technical issues led to long queues in certain polling units, causing frustration among some voters who struggled with repeated accreditation attempts.

However, electoral officials were able to resolve the issues, and voting continued in the affected areas.
