The defectors were formally welcomed at the APC’s Ileri-Oluwa House in Osogbo, where they declared their support for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Among those who switched allegiance are Moyoade Lukman, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Market Affairs, and Azeez Kazeem, a Senior Special Assistant in the Governor’s Office.
Also joining the APC are Dr. Leye Olagbaju, a former Accord Party House of Representatives aspirant for Ife Federal Constituency; Accord youth leader in Ife-Central Local Government, Asamo Gbenga; and Ojuolape Olagbaju.
The defectors attributed their decision to concerns over the prospects of their former party and expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s ability to accelerate development across Osun State.
Speaking for the group, Olagbaju pledged to deploy their political networks in support of the APC candidate.
According to him, the structures they have built over the years would be mobilised to ensure Oyebamiji’s victory at the polls, describing the APC flagbearer as a competent and well-prepared leader.
Lukman, on his part, said his return to the APC was influenced by lessons learned throughout his political career and a renewed commitment to progressive politics.
Welcoming the new members, APC Campaign Council Director-General, Wole Oke, assured them of fair treatment and equal opportunities within the party, while reiterating the APC’s determination to win the forthcoming election.
Oke further disclosed that more members of Adeleke’s administration, including commissioners, were expected to resign and join the APC in the coming weeks. He said the party would unveil them publicly at the appropriate time.
