According to the company, the preventive maintenance exercise will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.

TCN explained that the maintenance is aimed at servicing the 100MVA 132/33kV power transformer (TR1), along with its auxiliary equipment and associated switchgear, to ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of the transmission infrastructure.

As a result of the exercise, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive bulk electricity from the substation for distribution to customers in several parts of the capital during the seven-hour maintenance period.

Communities expected to be affected include Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp, Kado (including the Fish Market axis), Idu-Karmo, and surrounding neighbourhoods.

TCN said the maintenance is part of its routine efforts to keep critical transmission equipment in optimal operating condition and improve the reliability of electricity supply.

The company expressed regret over the temporary disruption and appealed to residents in the affected areas for understanding.

“TCN regrets any inconvenience this planned outage may cause electricity customers in the affected areas and emphasises that routine maintenance is essential to ensure the continued efficient performance of transmission equipment,” the statement said.

Residents and businesses in the affected communities have been advised to make adequate arrangements ahead of the scheduled power interruption.
