She made the remarks on Sunday during the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Computer Science Complex at Al-Qalam University in Katsina.
The project is being funded with proceeds from the book, From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, which chronicles the life and public service of the late Nigerian leader.
Speaking at the event, Aisha Buhari described the initiative as a meaningful way of preserving her husband’s legacy by investing in education, innovation and future generations rather than erecting monuments.
“Today marks far more than the commencement of a new building; it marks the beginning of a vision that equips future generations with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in an increasingly digital world,” she said.
She noted that the Computer Science Complex would stand as a lasting tribute to Muhammadu Buhari, whose life, she said, was defined by duty, discipline, integrity and an unwavering commitment to national development.
According to the former First Lady, dedicating the proceeds from the Buhari legacy book to an educational project reflects the family’s belief that the most enduring memorial is one that promotes knowledge, builds character and creates opportunities for generations to come.
She stressed that nations investing in computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software engineering and digital innovation would be best positioned to lead in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Offering prayers for the institution, Aisha Buhari expressed hope that the new complex would inspire academic excellence, produce graduates of integrity and contribute to the advancement of Katsina State, Nigeria and the African continent.
