The meeting, hosted by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, brought together governors from several APC-controlled states, although the purpose of the gathering was not immediately disclosed.

Journalists stationed at the Government House awaited a briefing from the governors following the meeting, but no official statement had been issued as of the time of filing this report.

Among those in attendance were governors from Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, Plateau, Delta, Ekiti, Taraba, Ondo, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Benue, Kogi and Enugu states, as well as representatives from other APC-led states.

However, the governors of Cross River, Niger and Katsina states did not attend the meeting. Sources indicated that the three governors sent apologies explaining their absence.

APC Defends Candidate Substitutions

Meanwhile, the APC has defended its decision to substitute some candidates following its primary elections, maintaining that the changes were carried out through the party’s established internal appeal process.

Speaking on ARISE Television on Tuesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the decisions followed a review of more than 720 petitions submitted by dissatisfied aspirants.

Morka dismissed claims that the APC arbitrarily replaced candidates or allocated party tickets to individuals who did not participate in the primaries.

According to him, all decisions were taken in accordance with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
