The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru Kudan, has held a meeting with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai amid controversy surrounding a leaked audio recording allegedly linked to him.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ashiru disclosed the meeting in a Facebook post on Tuesday but did not reveal where it was held.

The meeting followed the circulation of an audio recording purportedly featuring the ADC candidate, which has generated debate within the party. While some party members dismissed the recording as fabricated, supporters of El-Rufai reaffirmed their loyalty to the former governor.

Despite the controversy, El-Rufai’s wife, Aisha El-Rufai, publicly expressed support for Ashiru’s governorship bid.

Commenting on the meeting, Ashiru described the discussions as productive, saying they reinforced the party’s determination to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Kaduna governorship election.

“Today, I met with my brother, Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai. Our conversation has only deepened our resolve,” he wrote.

According to Ashiru, the ADC is fully prepared to unseat the APC-led administration in Kaduna State, which he accused of failing to meet the expectations of residents.

He said the party was committed to ending hardship, restoring development and delivering what he described as justice and dignity to the people of the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

El-Rufai is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of corruption relating to his time in office as Kaduna State governor. The former governor has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

The anti-corruption agency has also alleged that El-Rufai breached the conditions attached to a court-approved medical visit while in its custody.
