According to reports, the operation was conducted on Friday at a terrorist enclave in Yaganari, within the Gezuwa general area, following intelligence reports indicating renewed activities by militant groups in the location.
The Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday, stating that the strikes were launched after credible intelligence revealed that terrorists had regrouped and established operational bases in the area.
Ejodame explained that surveillance and reconnaissance missions were first carried out to verify the intelligence before the airstrikes were approved.
He said the missions confirmed the presence of terrorist structures, logistics facilities and other operational assets, which were subsequently targeted during a series of precision attacks.
The Air Force spokesperson noted that the strikes successfully destroyed terrorist infrastructure and neutralised several fighters, adding that the operation had further weakened the capabilities of insurgent groups operating in the North-East.
According to him, the latest offensive reflects the continued pressure being mounted on terrorist elements, whose ability to move freely and rebuild their networks has been significantly disrupted by sustained air operations.
Reacting to the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, praised the personnel involved in the operation, describing their efforts as a demonstration of professionalism and commitment to national security.
Aneke reaffirmed the NAF’s determination to continue working alongside ground forces to locate, disrupt and eliminate terrorist groups across the country.
He stated that the military would sustain joint operations aimed at preventing insurgents from establishing safe havens, rebuilding their logistics networks or threatening innocent communities.
The Air Chief added that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remained focused on consolidating recent gains in the fight against terrorism through coordinated and continuous operations.
