Graduate Shares Shocking Story of How Course Mate’s Father Employed Him With Over ₦500,000 Salary

A Nigerian graduate has recounted how years of helping a female course mate academically eventually led to an unexpected job opportunity from her father, with a monthly salary reportedly exceeding ₦500,000.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the man said the relationship began during his 100 level after students in their class WhatsApp group struggled to solve a mathematics problem. He successfully worked out the question and shared his calculations with the group, after which more than 50 classmates reportedly contacted him privately for assistance.

Among those who reached out was a female course mate who asked him to tutor her. The graduate said he continued assisting her academically from their first year until they completed their studies.

He explained that the woman valued his academic abilities and even introduced him to her boyfriend as her “guru” and one of the brightest students in their class.

The unexpected opportunity reportedly came on their graduation day when the woman’s parents visited the school. According to the graduate, his course mate identified him to her father and explained that he had graduated as the best student in his department.

Her father reportedly congratulated him, collected his phone number and contacted him a few days later with an employment offer.

The graduate said he was offered a position as an administrator even before commencing the National Youth Service Corps programme.

Recalling the offer, he said, “No certificate required. My pay was over 500,000 naira.”

Reflecting on how the opportunity came from someone he had consistently helped without expecting anything in return, the graduate urged people to treat others with kindness and respect.

He noted that the connections people often seek may already exist among those around them, including individuals they may not consider influential.

“The connection you are looking for is in the hands of people around you. And it might not be in the hands of those you look up to, but the ones you look down on and disrespect,” he said.

He further encouraged people to maintain good relationships with others regardless of whether they expect to benefit from them.

“Treat people right, even when you have nothing to gain from them,” he added.
