A Nigerian lady has recounted a dramatic encounter with a fellow passenger who allegedly pretended to be asleep in an attempt to avoid paying his bus fare.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the woman said every other passenger on the bus had paid the conductor, while the man allegedly remained silent and appeared to be sleeping throughout the journey.

As the bus approached its final destination, the lady reportedly alerted the conductor that the passenger had yet to pay his fare. The conductor allegedly checked and confirmed her observation, after which the man eventually paid the required amount.

However, the situation reportedly escalated after the payment was made. The lady claimed that the passenger became upset and began insulting her for drawing attention to the unpaid fare.

She explained that she initially chose not to respond to the insults, while the conductor also confronted the man over his behaviour.

According to her account, the confrontation continued after some passengers had alighted from the bus. She alleged that the man eventually called her a “mad woman” and directed the insult at her personally.

The lady said she finally reacted after he reportedly told her, “Look at you, mad woman.”

She recounted that she immediately began shouting accusations of theft, repeatedly calling out, “Tiffff oh! Ole oh!” in an attempt to draw public attention to the incident.

Her reaction reportedly attracted the attention of people around the area, prompting the passenger to quickly leave the scene before a larger crowd could gather.

The lady said the sudden departure of the passenger amused some witnesses, who appeared to understand the reason behind her loud reaction.

The incident has since drawn attention to the unusual confrontation, which began with an alleged attempt to avoid paying a bus fare before escalating into a heated exchange between the two passengers.
