Fury vs Joshua In Trouble? Dana White Speaks Amid Promotion Dispute

UFC president Dana White has expressed uncertainty over whether the highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will take place as scheduled on December 11, amid an ongoing dispute over the promotion of the event.

The proposed fight, which is expected to take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, has become the subject of a promotional disagreement involving White and Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn.

White, who is involved in promoting the event through Zuffa Boxing alongside Saudi Arabian boxing figure Turki Alalshikh, has clashed with Hearn over his role in the promotion. Hearn has maintained that Joshua’s existing promotional agreement does not allow White to participate in the event.

“I don’t know. The guy who is supposed to be helping the fight has been hurting the fight the entire time. He hasn’t done the fight any favours,” White said when asked about the situation.

When questioned about whether he would step aside to allow the bout to proceed, White replied that the decision was not his to make. He described the situation as a “shambles” and said more clarity was expected within three or four days.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the disagreement comes shortly before Fury and Joshua are expected to appear at a press conference in London on September 30 as part of the build-up to the proposed showdown.

Fury has meanwhile insisted that he has agreed to all the necessary terms to make the fight happen. The former heavyweight champion said he was willing to make significant concessions to ensure the bout goes ahead.

“There’s nothing that I haven’t agreed to. Nothing. I’ll even tie concrete blocks to my boots to make this fight happen,” Fury said.

Fury also credited Alalshikh and Netflix with providing the financial backing for the event, while Hearn has continued to object to White’s involvement, arguing that it conflicts with Joshua’s promotional agreement.

“Dana White cannot be involved with this fight promotion. Netflix clearly did not get the memo. No one talks to each other,” Hearn said.

Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, has defended White’s involvement in the proposed fight, while Fury has accused Hearn and Joshua of attempting to prevent the contest from taking place.

With the scheduled December 11 date drawing closer, the promotional dispute has introduced uncertainty around the proposed heavyweight clash, with further developments expected following the upcoming London press conference.
