Deputy Senate President Jibrin Fires Aide Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has terminated the appointment of his Special Assistant, Rashida Adamu, popularly known as Rashida Mai Sa’a, over allegations of anti-party activities and statements considered capable of inciting supporters.

The decision was announced on Monday, September 28, 2026, by Barau’s media and public relations aide, Shitu Madaki Kunchi.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the termination followed allegations that Rashida had made statements viewed by the senator’s office as disparaging and had engaged in activities allegedly aimed at undermining the interests of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and those of the Deputy Senate President in Kano State.

The development came shortly after Barau’s office warned that some individuals who had previously benefited from appointments and other forms of support from him were allegedly working against his political interests and the APC.

In a statement issued on September 27, the office alleged that some beneficiaries had turned against the senator and the party, with claims that certain individuals were attempting to undermine Barau’s political interests in Kano State and Kano North.

Rashida’s dismissal also comes days after another aide to the Deputy Senate President, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, was relieved of his appointment. Alhassan was dismissed after his social media activities were described by Barau’s office as disrespectful to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and contrary to the interests of the APC.

Barau’s office has maintained that aides who engage in conduct considered inconsistent with party unity or the senator’s political direction could be replaced. The office has also urged those serving under the Deputy Senate President to remain committed to the APC and avoid actions it considers capable of undermining the party or Barau’s political interests.
