Man City Under Pressure As Javier Tebas Demands Tough Sanctions Over Financial Charges

La Liga president Javier Tebas has called for severe punishment for Manchester City if the club is formally found guilty of breaching Premier League financial regulations.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Tebas made the remarks on Tuesday at the Peak Performance & Health Summit in London, following reports that an independent panel had found Manchester City guilty of all but one of 115 alleged financial breaches covering the period between 2009 and 2018.

However, the Premier League has not publicly released the panel’s findings or announced any sanction against the club. Manchester City has also maintained that the Premier League process remains ongoing and subject to confidentiality.

Tebas, who has previously raised concerns about Manchester City’s financial activities, said the reported findings should prompt stronger enforcement of financial regulations across European football.

He argued that the length and scale of the alleged breaches should be taken into consideration when determining any potential punishment.

The La Liga chief also said the case could have wider implications for football governance, particularly regarding the enforcement of financial regulations and the principle of applying the same rules to all clubs.

Manchester City has consistently denied wrongdoing in relation to the allegations and is expected to challenge any sanctions that may eventually be imposed.

Possible penalties reported in connection with the case include financial fines, points deductions or other sporting sanctions, although no punishment has officially been confirmed.
