Ilenikhena Benched As Chelle Names Super Eagles XI For Guinea-Bissau Clash

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has announced Nigeria’s starting lineup for Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau.

According to Bush Radio Academy, both sides head into the encounter with three points after securing victories in their opening qualifying fixtures. Nigeria defeated Madagascar, while Guinea-Bissau began their campaign with a win over Tanzania.

Stanley Nwabali retains his position in goal, while Chelle has made adjustments to the defensive setup for Nigeria’s second qualifying match.

Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi and Bruno Onyemaechi will form the defensive line, with Wilfred Ndidi captaining the team from midfield.

Ndidi will operate alongside Frank Onyeka, while Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi also retains his place in the central midfield.

Ademola Lookman will provide an attacking threat, with Akor Adams and Taiwo Awoniyi selected to lead the Super Eagles’ frontline.

George Ilenikhena, who came off the bench to score Nigeria’s equaliser against Madagascar, has been named among the substitutes for the Guinea-Bissau encounter.

Samuel Chukwueze and Ola Aina, who started Nigeria’s opening qualifier, have also been relegated to the bench for Tuesday’s match.

The Super Eagles will be seeking another victory to strengthen their position in the qualifying group, while Guinea-Bissau will be aiming to maintain their winning momentum in front of their home supporters.
