Nkechi Blessing Breaks Silence After Losing Boxing Clash To Phyna

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has reacted to her defeat against reality TV star Phyna in a celebrity boxing bout held in Lagos.

The contest took place at the Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” event at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, where both women exchanged punches before Phyna secured a fourth-round knockout victory.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the bout was scheduled for four rounds, with Phyna eventually delivering the decisive blow in the final round. Nkechi was knocked down and could not beat the referee’s count, bringing the contest to an end.

Following her victory, Phyna explained that she had initially planned to conserve her energy during the opening three rounds before increasing her intensity in the final round.

The reality TV star was subsequently presented with a new car and a ceremonial ₦50 million cheque as part of the prizes for her victory.

Reacting to the outcome, Nkechi Blessing took to Instagram to describe herself as a champion despite the official result. She also suggested that those who watched the fight closely would understand her assessment of the contest.

“Still a CHAMPION regardless of the result… even the blind knows who the winner is. Somebody shout NBS! That is if you really watched the fight,” she wrote.

The actress also disclosed that she had only trained for two days ahead of the bout, thanking her coach for the support before indicating that she would return her attention to acting.

Nkechi ended her message by joking that she is an actress rather than a professional boxer, suggesting that she was ready to return to making movies following the celebrity boxing contest.
