Shock In Bauchi As Former APC Women Leader Is Found Dead In Pool Of Blood
The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of Jemimah Dutse, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Bauchi South, whose body was reportedly discovered inside her residence in the Yelwa area of the state.
Dutse was found in a pool of blood with her throat allegedly slit by unidentified assailants, according to the police.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, said a 49-year-old man reported the incident at about 2:07pm on October 3, 2026, at the ‘E’ Division of the command.
According to Bush Radio Academy, police detectives immediately visited the scene, documented relevant findings and evacuated the deceased’s body to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical examination and autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, subsequently ordered that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and thorough investigation.
The police said the investigation is aimed at determining the circumstances surrounding Dutse’s death and identifying those responsible for the suspected murder.
The command also expressed condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and political associates, while assuring members of the public that every effort would be made to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure that justice is served.
The police have yet to disclose any arrest or identify a suspect in connection with the incident as investigations continue.
