Asari Dokubo Makes Explosive ₦2.7 Trillion Pipeline Contract Claim Against Olu Of Warri
Niger Delta ex-militant leader Asari Dokubo has alleged that the Olu of Warri and businessman Osahon Idahosa are among individuals receiving pipeline protection contracts worth about ₦2.7 trillion annually.
Dokubo made the allegation in a video circulating online while defending former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, over his involvement in pipeline surveillance activities in the Niger Delta.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Dokubo questioned why Tompolo had faced criticism over pipeline surveillance contracts while other individuals and organisations allegedly receive larger sums for similar services without attracting the same level of scrutiny.
He claimed that the Olu of Warri and Idahosa were receiving significantly more money for pipeline protection, arguing that criticism of Tompolo was unfair.
Dokubo, who said he was not involved in pipeline surveillance contracts, also warned against individuals and companies from outside the Niger Delta benefiting from contracts meant to protect oil infrastructure in the region.
He argued that allowing people from other parts of the country to take such contracts could result in the funds being treated as the private wealth of the beneficiaries rather than resources that should benefit the Niger Delta.
In the video, Dokubo also claimed that he recently saw a vessel operating in Nigerian waters bearing the initials “OUK”, which he linked to former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu. The claim was not independently verified.
Dokubo’s comments have added to the ongoing debate surrounding pipeline surveillance contracts in the Niger Delta, including questions about the beneficiaries, value of the contracts and the role of former militants in protecting oil infrastructure.
However, the figures and allegations contained in Dokubo’s claims were not independently established in the information available.
