2027 Politics: Fintiri Storms Port Harcourt, Meets Wike Behind Closed Doors

Published

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has visited the Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt, where he met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The visit was disclosed on Monday by Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT minister, in a post on X.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Olayinka simply stated that Fintiri was in Port Harcourt to see Wike, without providing details of the issues discussed during the meeting.

The meeting comes amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections and months after Fintiri directed political appointees in Adamawa State to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress or resign from their positions.

In June, the governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, gave political office holders who had declared support for other political parties 48 hours to resign or face removal from office.

The administration said the directive was aimed at maintaining loyalty, discipline and the integrity of the state’s public service.

Fintiri maintained that political appointees were expected to support the policies, programmes and political direction of the administration under which they served, describing allegiance to rival political parties as a potential threat to effective governance.

The governor also directed the Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Service to ensure compliance with the directive.

Details of Fintiri’s meeting with Wike were not immediately made public, leaving the purpose and outcome of the visit open to speculation as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
