Konsa Ruled Out For England As Arsenal Face Nervous Wait Ahead Of Leeds Clash

Published

Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa has returned to the club after being ruled out of England’s final international fixture against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Konsa featured for the full 90 minutes in England’s 7-0 victory over Croatia on Saturday but was subsequently withdrawn from the national team camp after experiencing a slight muscle problem.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the defender had been managing the issue during the international break and had initially missed training before recovering sufficiently to feature against Croatia.

Konsa has now returned to Arsenal for further assessment as manager Mikel Arteta prepares his squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.

The results of the assessment will determine whether the defender is fit enough to play at the weekend or needs additional time to recover.

Konsa’s situation could create a defensive concern for Arteta, particularly given his growing importance within Arsenal’s backline. However, the Gunners have received some positive injury news during the international break.

Ben White, Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera have all returned to training, strengthening Arteta’s defensive options ahead of the Leeds fixture.

White and Mosquera had suffered injuries before the international break, but their return to training provides encouragement that they could be available for selection on Saturday.

Arsenal will now monitor Konsa closely and hope the muscle problem is minor enough to allow him to resume full training soon. Should he remain unavailable, the return of White, Hincapie and Mosquera could provide Arteta with alternatives in defence.
