Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup as preparations intensify for the tournament.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the Nigerian delegation arrived in Casablanca on Wednesday, October 7, and checked into the Ibis Hotel, where the players and technical crew will continue their preparations ahead of the competition.

Head coach Akeem Busari selected a 21-player squad for the tournament, with captain Harmony Chidi leading the team as Nigeria seeks another impressive campaign on the global stage.

The Flamingos secured their qualification for the World Cup after an outstanding run at the WAFU-B U-17 Girls Championship, where they recorded five victories in five matches. Nigeria also conceded just one goal throughout the regional competition.

The Nigerian youngsters have been drawn in Group B alongside Poland, Puerto Rico and two-time defending champions Korea DPR.

Nigeria will begin its World Cup campaign against Poland on Saturday, October 17, before taking on Puerto Rico three days later.

The Flamingos will then face Korea DPR in their final group-stage encounter on October 23.

All three of Nigeria’s group matches are scheduled to take place at the Women’s Football Complex in Rabat.

The team will be hoping to improve on its previous performance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after finishing third at the 2022 edition.

With the tournament scheduled to run from October 17 to November 7, Busari and his players will use their time in Morocco to fine-tune their tactics and build momentum before their opening fixture.

The Flamingos will be aiming to combine their impressive regional form with strong performances on the world stage as they pursue a deep run in the tournament.
