Nigerian Man Reveals Why He Rented A Shop For His Girlfriend Before Their Wedding

A Nigerian man identified as @Teemento on X has shared the story behind his decision to rent a shop for his girlfriend, who is now his wife, recounting how they began building their life together shortly after his university graduation.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the man disclosed that he married his wife in 2018 after completing his university education. He explained that although he initially expected to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, circumstances surrounding strikes and age-related issues resulted in him receiving an exemption certificate.

Following the development, he secured employment and continued his engineering work, which enabled him to save a substantial amount of money.

He revealed that he had accumulated close to ₦2 million through his work and savings before deciding on his next steps in life.

“So, I just took it as how God wanted it. During that time, I was able to save some money because I usually did my engineering work after school, so I saved close to ₦2 million,” he said.

The man explained that his age also affected his plans to relocate abroad, prompting him to focus on settling down and building a future with his partner.

As part of their journey, he rented a shop for his girlfriend to support her business aspirations. The couple subsequently got married and began navigating the challenges of life together.

Reflecting on their relationship, he said they had continued to support each other through different stages of their journey, despite not yet achieving all their goals.

He disclosed that they are now blessed with two children and remain hopeful about their future.

“Since then till now, we’ve been facing it together. We are blessed with two beautiful children. We are not there yet, but definitely we will get there,” he stated.

His account has highlighted the importance of partnership, sacrifice and mutual support in building a family, with the story offering a glimpse into how the couple began their journey together after university.
