It’s Going To Take Some Time — LeBron James Sends Message After 76ers Loss
LeBron James has called for patience as the Philadelphia 76ers work to build chemistry following their 114-108 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets in his pre-season debut for the franchise.
The 41-year-old basketball superstar, who joined Philadelphia in July, described his latest contract as the final one of his NBA career. His arrival has raised expectations among supporters hoping the franchise can win its first NBA championship since 1983.
James made an immediate contribution against Brooklyn, recording 10 points, four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 18 minutes during the first half. Despite the defeat, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer believes the game offers a useful foundation for the team as its players adjust to one another.
“We’re still trying to put each other in the position to be successful and complement each other the best way we can on the floor. But it’s going to take some time,” James said.
“Tonight was a good sample size for us to build on.”
James featured alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and Jaylen Brown, who led Philadelphia’s scoring with 18 points. The team’s performance highlighted the work still required to develop coordination and consistency ahead of the new campaign.
According to Bush Radio Academy, James joined the 76ers after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, where he spent eight years and won the NBA championship in 2020.
Throughout his illustrious career, James has also secured two championships with the Miami Heat and another with the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning titles with every NBA franchise he has represented.
The veteran forward is preparing for a record-extending 24th NBA season, adding another milestone to a career that has established him as one of basketball’s most accomplished players. He has won four NBA Most Valuable Player awards and earned All-Star selection in each of the previous 22 seasons.
Although Philadelphia’s pre-season loss offers no definitive indication of how the team will perform in the regular season, James believes the squad can improve as its players develop a stronger understanding of one another on the court.
With championship expectations surrounding his arrival, the veteran superstar will be hoping his experience and leadership can help the 76ers build a competitive team capable of challenging for the NBA title.
