Tragedy Averted In Zamfara As Troops Discover And Neutralise Terrorists’ Explosives On Major Road

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered and neutralised explosive devices allegedly planted by terrorists along the Magami-Hannutara-Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the Nigerian Army disclosed the development in a statement issued on Friday, October 9, 2026, noting that the operation prevented a potential threat to commuters using the road.

The statement said the troops acted on credible intelligence, secured the affected area and conducted a thorough search, during which they discovered two locations where explosive devices had been planted.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was subsequently deployed to the scene. The team destroyed one of the devices and safely recovered and rendered the other harmless.

Following the discovery, the troops intensified patrols and surveillance along the route to protect residents, safeguard road users and prevent further security threats.

The Army also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects or activities to the nearest security agency.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security personnel to counter terrorist activities and improve safety in communities and along major routes in Zamfara State.
