Zambian Man Uses Spear To K!ll Suspected Crocodile After Two Young Women D!e In River Attacks

A man in Zambia has reportedly killed a crocodile suspected of attacking and killing two young women from the same family within four days in Sioma District.

The tragic incidents occurred at the Zambezi River in Sokoto Village, where the victims had gone to fetch water. The deaths sparked fear and anger among residents, prompting a group of locals to search for the reptile they believed was responsible.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the first victim, 22-year-old Monde Pelekelo, was attacked by a crocodile and dragged into the river. Four days later, her 20-year-old relative, Sikwezi Pelekelo, reportedly suffered a similar fate at the same location.

Sikwezi was said to have gone to the river at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, when the crocodile struck and pulled her beneath the water. While Monde’s body was recovered a day after the first attack, Sikwezi’s body reportedly remained missing for several hours before it was found floating in the river.

Following the two tragedies, four residents decided to search for the animal they suspected was behind the attacks. The group reportedly ventured onto the river in a canoe after sunset, hoping to locate the crocodile.

One of the men, Mola Simona, said the group spotted a reptile moving towards the area where the attacks had occurred and followed it.

“We waited for sunset and went to look for the crocodile on a canoe. Just a few minutes later, we noticed that the reptile was heading towards the same direction where it had attacked people. That is how we followed it,” Simona said.

He claimed he eventually used a spear to stab and kill the crocodile, expressing satisfaction that the group had succeeded without using a firearm.

Simona also said officials from Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife had visited the area but were unable to locate the reptile before the residents took action.

“The Department of National Parks and Wildlife were here but failed to find it. Now here I am. We killed it without a gun. If anyone ever doubted a spear, today they can see that it can kill a crocodile,” he said.

The residents subsequently brought the animal onto land, where markings resembling the letters “MYJ” reportedly attracted the attention of onlookers. The markings sparked speculation, with some people suggesting a supernatural explanation while others considered them coincidental.

However, it remains unconfirmed whether the crocodile killed by the residents was responsible for the deaths of Monde and Sikwezi. No evidence presented in the account conclusively links the animal to the two fatal attacks.
