NDC Raises Concern Over Missing Candidates, Calls On INEC To Act Before 2027 Elections

The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly address the omission of some of the party’s candidates from its published list ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Dickson made the appeal in a statement issued on Thursday, expressing confidence that the electoral commission would correct what he described as an apparent omission.

The former Bayelsa State governor maintained that all affected candidates had completed their registration with the party before the statutory 21-day deadline. He also insisted that the NDC had presented qualified candidates who emerged through a rigorous screening process.

Dickson assured the party’s candidates and supporters that steps were being taken to resolve the matter, urging them to remain calm while the party engages with the relevant authorities.

He said the NDC had taken adequate measures to address the cases of candidates whose names were missing from the list published by INEC.

According to him, the party had fielded candidates for elections ranging from the presidency to the State Houses of Assembly, adding that he expected the commission to rectify the situation without unnecessary delay.

Dickson also urged party members not to allow the development to disrupt preparations for the 2027 elections.

He called on NDC supporters and candidates across the country to continue with consultations, town hall meetings, mobilisation activities and campaign preparations in their respective states and constituencies.

The party leader reiterated that the NDC remained committed to its electoral plans as political activities continued to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
