Lyon defeated Crystal Palace 3-2 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, October 15, while Sunderland secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Portuguese side Torreense with a stoppage-time winner.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan also recorded emphatic 4-0 victories over Lech Poznan and Salzburg respectively, while Benfica defeated Celtic 4-1 in another round of entertaining fixtures.

Lyon took an early lead against Crystal Palace in the 10th minute when Corentin Tolisso capitalised on a loose ball following a corner kick. The French side doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time through Ernest Nuamah, who finished off a well-worked move after receiving a cross from Keito Nakamura.

Palace responded shortly after the restart, with Yeremy Pino finding the net following a set-piece routine. However, Pavel Sulc restored Lyon’s two-goal advantage with a close-range finish.

Daichi Kamada reduced the deficit once again with nine minutes remaining, but Lyon held on to secure their second consecutive victory in the league phase.

In Portugal, Sunderland produced a late comeback to defeat Torreense 2-1, with Noah Sadiki scoring the decisive goal in the 93rd minute.

Torreense took the lead in the 37th minute after Volnei Feltes beat his marker before firing a long-range effort past Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs.

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris introduced Granit Xhaka and Enzo Le Fee shortly before the hour mark, and the changes helped the visitors regain control of the contest. Jules Ahoka subsequently equalised before Sadiki struck deep into stoppage time to complete the comeback.

The closing stages also featured a lengthy Video Assistant Referee review, following which Sunderland were denied a late penalty.

Bayer Leverkusen moved to the top of the standings after sweeping aside Lech Poznan 4-0. Patrik Schick scored twice from the penalty spot in the first half, while Malik Tillman also found the net before the interval. Ibrahim Maza completed the scoring with a late fourth goal.

AC Milan matched Leverkusen’s scoreline with a convincing away victory over Salzburg. Teenage forward Alphadjo Cisse stole the spotlight with a hat-trick, while Goncalo Ramos added the fourth goal in the 72nd minute. However, Filippo Terracciano’s red card was a setback for the Italian side despite the comprehensive win.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth defeated Sturm Graz 3-0, while Juventus claimed a 2-1 away victory over Celta Vigo. Olympiacos secured a narrow 1-0 win against Marseille, and Real Sociedad played out a 1-1 draw with Union Saint-Gilloise. Dinamo Zagreb also defeated Anderlecht 1-0.
