Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Retains Three Key Aides As He Begins Second Term
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reappointed three senior government officials shortly after taking the oath of office for his second term on Friday, October 16, 2026.
The reappointed officials are Professor Habibat Adubiaro, who will continue as Secretary to the State Government; Oyeniyi Adebayo, who retains his position as Chief of Staff; and Olayinka Oyebode, who remains the Chief Press Secretary to the governor.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the appointments were confirmed in a statement signed by Oyebode on Friday. The statement said the reappointments take immediate effect.
The development followed Oyebanji’s inauguration for another four-year term as governor of Ekiti State. He was sworn in alongside his deputy, Chief Monisade Afuye, at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, administered the oaths of office and allegiance during the ceremony, which attracted political supporters, government officials and other dignitaries.
Oyebanji took his oaths at approximately 1:40 p.m. before signing the necessary documents formalising his return to office. Afuye had earlier completed her swearing-in at about 1:28 p.m.
The governor’s re-election and inauguration mark a significant milestone in Ekiti State’s political history, as he becomes the first governor in the state to secure a consecutive term in office.
The retention of Adubiaro, Adebayo and Oyebode signals continuity among key members of the governor’s administration as he begins his second term.
