Tinubu’s 2027 Chances: AbdulRazaq Claims APC, PDP Support Could Deliver Kwara

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed confidence that the inclusion of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council could strengthen President Bola Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 general election.

According to Bush Radio Academy, AbdulRazaq made the remarks during a visit to the Kwara State Government House by the Director-General of the APC presidential campaign council, Abdulaziz Yari.

The governor welcomed Wike’s inclusion in the campaign council, arguing that the minister’s reported support for Tinubu’s re-election bid could improve the president’s prospects in Kwara State.

AbdulRazaq claimed that the APC controlled about 70 per cent of the state’s voting strength, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accounted for the remaining 30 per cent.

He maintained that the PDP had continued to weaken since the 2019 and 2023 general elections, adding that Wike’s involvement in Tinubu’s campaign could further strengthen support for the president in the state.

“APC is 70 per cent in Kwara State, while PDP is 30 per cent. Since the 2019 and 2023 elections till now, nothing has changed other than the PDP has continued to be weakened,” the governor said.

He further argued that if supporters of both parties backed Tinubu, Kwara could become one of the states where the president would face less difficulty securing victory in 2027.

“Now that the national leader of the PDP has been inaugurated as a member of the APC presidential campaign council and declared that his party will vote for President Bola Tinubu, it means that both the 30 per cent of the PDP and the 70 per cent of the APC will vote for the president,” AbdulRazaq stated.

He added that the development could make Kwara one of the two easiest states for Tinubu to win, based on his assessment of the political situation.

However, the governor’s figures and assessment of voting strength represent his political claims and do not establish how voters will behave in the 2027 election.

Wike, a prominent PDP figure who serves in Tinubu’s administration, has attracted attention over his reported support for the president’s re-election campaign, with the development raising questions about its implications for party loyalties and the forthcoming presidential contest.
