A Nigerian woman has sparked online reactions after expressing frustration over the quantity of Titus fish she reportedly purchased for ₦10,000, appealing to fish sellers, farmers and the government to address the rising cost of food.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the woman made her concerns known in a video circulating on social media, where she displayed the fish and questioned why such a small quantity cost so much.

In the video, she appealed to those involved in the production and sale of Titus fish to consider the financial difficulties faced by ordinary Nigerians amid rising living expenses.

“Please, I am calling out for people that are selling Titus. If you know you are the one manufacturing Titus and you understand, I’m calling you out. This is ₦10,000,” she said.

The woman also expressed surprise at the practice of fish farming, recalling that she grew up believing fish were naturally found in water. She pleaded with fish farmers to consider consumers who struggle to afford basic food items.

“When we were small, they told us that fish is a natural thing inside the water, but I don’t know. Now that you are training Titus, please, people that are training Titus, I go on my knees, please,” she stated.

She further lamented that spending ₦10,000 on the fish had left her concerned about how much money would remain for other items needed to prepare a meal.

“How much are they giving me to go market and cook that I will buy only this one for ₦10,000?” she asked.

Appealing to sellers and farmers, she urged them to consider people managing limited incomes and struggling to cope with the increasing cost of food.

“If you know who are rich people, you sell it to them. We that are managing, please help us,” she added.

The woman also called on the government to investigate the situation and take steps to address the concerns she raised over the price of fish.

Her video has generated discussion on social media, with the incident drawing attention to the broader challenges Nigerians face in purchasing food amid rising living costs. However, the exact quantity of fish purchased and the prevailing market price in her location were not independently established in the account.
