Selena Gomez Sounds Alarm Over Vaping, Reveals How Nicotine Changed Her Voice

American singer and actress Selena Gomez has warned fans about the dangers of nicotine vaping after revealing that the habit has affected her voice and that quitting has proved difficult.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the 34-year-old entertainer shared her experience in a video posted on her Instagram Story on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in which she urged people to avoid vaping and cautioned those already struggling with nicotine dependence.

Gomez admitted that she had vaped nicotine extensively and expressed concern about the changes she had noticed in her voice. She acknowledged that some listeners might no longer enjoy the sound of her voice, adding that she would understand if they chose to stop listening to her music.

The singer spoke candidly about the difficulty of breaking the habit, encouraging people who currently vape or are considering trying it to reconsider their decision.

“Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it, or if you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it,” she said.

Gomez also expressed determination to stop vaping, while recognising that overcoming nicotine dependence could be challenging.

Her disclosure comes after questions about changes to her voice during an Instagram Live session in December, when she reportedly explained that her throat sometimes swelled internally.

The singer’s comments have drawn attention to the difficulties associated with nicotine addiction and her personal concerns about the impact vaping has had on her voice.

Gomez has previously spoken publicly about several health challenges, including lupus, the kidney transplant she underwent in 2017 and her bipolar disorder diagnosis.

Her latest message serves as a personal warning to fans, particularly young people, about taking up nicotine vaping and the challenges that may accompany attempts to quit.
