4. Akume was elected as the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Benue North West senatorial district, from 2007 to 2019, under the former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) party.

5. During his tenure in the Red Chamber, George Akume held the position of Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing matters related to the Nigerian Army.

6. In 1978, George Akume earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan, situated in Oyo State.
