Beauty After Tragedy: Late Herbert Wigwe’s Daughter Finds Love Again In Traditional Wedding

Tochi Wigwe, daughter of the late founder of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, has married investment executive Wilson Omogbale Aikhomu in a private traditional wedding ceremony.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and was attended by family members, friends and other loved ones who gathered to celebrate the couple.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the traditional marriage featured several cultural rites, including the payment of the bride price, the signing of family documents and the formal handing over of Tochi to her husband’s family.

The marriage marks a significant new chapter in Tochi’s life following the tragic loss of her parents and younger brother in a helicopter crash in California, United States, on February 9, 2024.

Her father, Herbert Wigwe, was a renowned banking executive and former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings. He died alongside his wife, Chizoba, and their son, Chizi, in the crash.

Tochi’s aunt celebrated the wedding on social media, expressing gratitude and describing the occasion with the biblical phrase, “Beauty for ashes,” from Isaiah 61:3.

Her message reflected the family’s appreciation for the joyful development after the devastating loss that left Tochi without her parents and younger brother.

Tochi is the eldest surviving daughter of Herbert and Chizoba Wigwe. She also serves as a director of the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe Foundation, established in honour of her late father to preserve his legacy and continue his humanitarian activities.

Her husband, Wilson Aikhomu, is a Lagos-based investment professional who serves as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty.

He is the son of the late Rear Admiral Joseph Omozuwa Aikhomu and the nephew of former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.

Wilson was also reportedly a close friend of Tochi’s younger brother, Chizi, before his death in the 2024 helicopter crash.

The wedding has attracted attention as Tochi begins a new chapter with her husband, surrounded by family members and loved ones.
