In a recent news briefing held in Port Harcourt, former Chief of Staff of Rivers State Government House, Tony Okocha, stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is prepared to welcome Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of the state, if he decides to defect to the ruling party. This statement comes amidst ongoing speculations about Wike’s potential departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his alleged lobbying for ministerial positions in President Bola Tinubu’s government.

While Wike has openly expressed his willingness to serve if appointed by President Tinubu, Okocha emphasized that Wike has the freedom to join any political party of his choice.
