In an effort to address the soaring cost of living resulting from the discontinuation of fuel subsidy, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has taken a significant step by providing free transportation solutions for farmers. On Tuesday, he unveiled a plan to distribute 80 buses and pick-up vans, enabling farmers to commute between their communities and farmlands without any financial burden. CONTINUE READING
Among the means of transport, 50 luxurious buses will be allocated from the fleet of the Borno Express Corporation, a state-owned transport company. Additionally, the state government will procure and supply 30 pick-up vans to cater specifically to the transportation needs of farmers. This strategic initiative aims to mitigate the adverse effects of the fuel subsidy withdrawal, ensuring that farmers can continue their agricultural activities without incurring additional expenses for transportation.
Governor Zulum’s proactive approach to supporting farmers and cushioning the impact of the fuel subsidy removal has garnered praise and commendation from Nigerians across the country. The distribution of trucks, luxurious buses, and pick-up vans demonstrates a commitment to the welfare and empowerment of farmers, reinforcing the government’s dedication to fostering sustainable agricultural practices in Borno State.
It is important to note middle last month Zulum dished out 312 tractors, 100 trucks of fertilizers to farmers in the state.

Through out the currency ‘confiscation’ crisis, this Governor did not say a word,never went to court on behalf of the poor, rather he took action to minimize the pain. With fuel subsidy, Zulum did it again.
