Senegalese-American singer, Akon, recently praised Nigerians, considering them to be among the “smartest people” in the world. During his appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, co-hosted by N.O.R.E and DJ EFN, the ‘Oh Africa’ crooner expressed his admiration for the Nigerian populace.

Akon claimed that Nigeria has produced a significant number of billionaires, surpassing any other country globally. He commended the intelligence of Nigerians, asserting that their intellectual prowess is unparalleled. However, he also acknowledged that a few individuals have tainted the country’s image with their negative actions.

He stated, “While this statement may be subject to debate, Nigerians are undeniably the smartest people on the planet. I can assure you, there is nobody smarter than a Nigerian. Admittedly, there are a few bad apples that have emerged. These individuals are incredibly intelligent, but they have misdirected their talents.”

Akon further remarked that if these gifted individuals were to channel their intelligence towards more positive and productive endeavors, the outcome would be remarkable. He noted that Nigeria has already witnessed the rise of numerous billionaires, emphasizing the potential for even greater success.
